Both in Japan and abroad, “samurai” is often used as a keyword to evoke images of Japan. However, the associations with this word may vary, depending on the person. This exhibition reviews the life and work of the samurai “warrior” class in Japan’s Edo Period, the origin point for contemporary impressions of the samurai, to reconsider images of the samurai.

Location: Edo-Tokyo Museum, Special Exhibition Room (1st Floor)
The Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum was opened in 1993 and has been in operation for about 30 years. During this time, the museum's facilities and equipment have deteriorated over the years, and the museum will be closed for major renovations, including a complete renewal of equipment and facilities.
